There is no absolute winner between the Xprinter XP-D281B and the Xprinter XP-T451B. Choose by label size and how long the print must last, not by how many numeric rows one model wins.

The real split: direct thermal vs thermal transfer

The XP-D281B is direct thermal only: it prints on thermal paper with no ribbon. That is cheaper and faster for short-life labels, but weaker against heat, abrasion, and light. The XP-T451B does both direct thermal and thermal transfer, with a ribbon up to 300 m long and 25.4–110 mm wide on the official Xprinter sheet. Thermal transfer is the better fit for shipping and storage labels that need to last. The T451B does not require a ribbon for every job.

Choose the XP-D281B if you need

• Narrow labels, wristbands, or tickets on 20–60 mm media, with a 56 mm maximum print width on the English official page.
• A compact 220 × 131 × 170 mm body at about 1.3 kg, printing up to 203 mm/s.
• A lower purchase and running cost for everyday labels that do not need high durability.

Choose the XP-T451B if you need

• Wider 4-inch-class labels: 25.4–118 mm media and a 104 mm maximum print width, including 100 × 150 mm shipping labels.
• Thermal-transfer printing and a longer-lasting label via ribbon.
• A larger desktop unit (282 × 232 × 171 mm, about 2.56 kg) for wider media.

Both models list QR Code, PDF417, DataMatrix, and Aztec on Xprinter’s sheets. A blank QR row for the T451B in the table is a display gap, not a real missing feature.

Media width is not print width: stock can be slightly wider than the printable area (56 mm vs up to 60 mm media on the D281B; 104 mm vs up to 118 mm media on the T451B). The Chinese D281B page lists 15–60 mm; the English page used here and the comparison table use 20–60 mm.

The English T451B spec table lists 127 mm/s, while the marketing intro says 152 mm/s. This page follows the tabulated 127 mm/s until the sold SKU is confirmed. T451B ports vary by configuration: USB is standard; Ethernet, serial, and wireless are options.
